Frequently Asked Questions

What is chiropractic? Chiropractic is a non-invasive, natural healing method that allows the body to repair itself by correcting spinal misalignments (called subluxations) through spinal manipulation. Chiropractic comprises the second largest health care field in the United States and the leading natural healing art in the world.

What is Subluxation?
A subluxation is misalignment or biomechanical malfunctioning of the vertebrae, (the bones of the spine). When the vertebra become subluxated, pressure is exerted on the spinal nerves creating nerve interference. This interference disrupts the normal flow of messages to the brain to all other organs of the body, potentially causing a wide variety of ailments. What is Atlas Orthogonal?
The Atlas Orthogonal Technique is a chiropractic specialty that utilizes a precise and painless adjustment to realign the vertebrae of the spine.

The Atlas is the top bone of the spine, which the head rests on. Orthogonal means at right angles, or square. The Atlas should be level, (or square) on the cervical spine (neck), and the head should be square on the Atlas. When the Atlas is in proper alignment, it literally means your head is on straight!

How long until I see and feel results? For some patients, progress comes quickly, for others it can take weeks or months. Many factors affect the healing process, however, within a week or so, most patients experience improvement. (back to top)

How long will I need treatment? The length of treatment for an injury or episode depends on the specifics of your case. After a thorough examination including X-rays, the doctor will explain his findings and treatment plan, detailing the length and frequency of recommended visits. Once you are back-on-track, regular chiropractic care should be part of your ongoing wellness plan to help you maintain optimal health. (back to top)
